You can set the path in VC++ Directories, or in Additional Include Directories. That's just the default. The /X compiler option can be used to exclude directories from the include file search path. Visual Studio Additional Include Directories Not Working Already have an account?

I think the solution includes header files so it knows to recompile if they change. In Visual Studio 2003.net they were removed, completely. For example, the stdafx.cpp file is automatically created in the project directory for new MFC projects.
