I tried with PHP 7 64 bit but not successful. Nothing I've found on this site has been helpful although I have found similar questions. Why is looping over find's output bad practice? To run via the command line in windows type CMD in the Start Menu > Search Box and then the path to httpd.exe.
Can I cite email communication in my thesis/paper? I did not change any of the defaults when installing, and in my case the edits look like this in the httpd.conf file: #BEGIN PHP INSTALLER EDITS - REMOVE ONLY ON One has no problem, the other does. Killing Mac's apache did work.
Now XAMPP can start the packaged Apache, but none of the scripts work within XAMPP, even their index.php, which indicates a deeper issue. But since Apache 2.2.17 is running smoothly without the LoadModule php5_module call and the fact it's not Apache but the OS reporting an error, I do suspect the OS the most. That's all I can think of...that's how I got it to work. Thanks for your help!
Also, the error doesn't leave any information in the Apache error logs. Upgraded from 5.2.9 and got the same error as the reporter describes. It turned out that I had installed incompatible versions of Apache and PHP.
