I see there is one topic on this already, but the guys advice did not fix the problem for me: "settings-> system-> power & sleep-> Additional plan settings-> change plan This is ok, I guess, but not ideal because there's still a bit of a glow coming from the monitor (a blank screensaver is still brighter than the monitor being off). The easiest solution I have found is to use the Watch4Idle freeware taskbar app that was recommended by Lifehacker. I thought of creating a power setting that turned the monitor off asap (the shortest amount of time is one minute; that's fine).

Use NirCMD shortcut to test.... Based on the advice here I tried nircmd. The only thing different in my installation is that this time it is a fresh install of Windows 10 whereas before it was an upgrade from 8.1. Much appreciated.
